The FIBA Men’s World Cup 2023 begins LIVE on Friday August 25, 2023 – where the Boomers meet Finland in their tournament opener LIVE on ESPN at 6pm AEST.
What is the FIBA Basketball World Cup?
The FIBA Basketball World Cup is an international basketball competition between the senior national teams of the world’s best 32 qualifying men’s teams. It takes place every four years and is considered the flagship event of FIBA. The 2023 edition will be the 19th World Cup since the inaugural tournament held in 1950.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia with 32 participating teams that will play 92 games over 17 days.
When does the FIBA Basketball World Cup start?
The FIBA Men’s World Cup tips off on Friday August 25th, 2023 and will run over 17 days with the gold and bronze medal games being played on the 10th September, 2023 at the Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines.
Australia is currently the 3rd ranked side, topped only by the United States (2) and defending champions Spain (1). The Australian Boomers will play in Group E, alongside host-nation Japan (36), Finland (24) and Germany (11), where the matches will be held in Okinawa Arena, in Okinawa Japan.
How to watch the FIBA Basketball Word Cup in Australia
